For most of my life I have lived and worked on the coast of Norfolk.
I have walked its coastline regularly, sketching and painting throughout the year in all weather conditions.
It is through this constant watchfulness and revisiting that the coast and sea is embedded in my memory and lived experiences.
By using memory I draw on events seen, remembered and experienced.
My work is autobiographical, it is concerned with a ‘sense of place’ the experience of being in, rather than merely looking at the landscape.
Through mark making I attempt to express the whole feeling of being present in a place as well as the presence of the place itself.
